State Dept. Announces K Visa Prioritization

On August 31st the U.S. Department of State published a notice indicating that K visas will receive priority processing as more embassies and consulates increase their visa services. The notice also pointed out that while I-129F petitions are time limited, the Department can extend them in four month increments, meaning individual who have experienced long delays will not have to re-file their I-129F.

The notice did not indicate which embassies and consulates will be processing K visas in the near future, instead directing applicants to contact the post handling their case. If you have a K visa case that has been pending due to COVID-19 and would like assistance in analyzing whether your case will benefit from this announcement in the near future, you can submit a question or request a consultation with The Visa Officer.
